Following our baseline survey in 2006, we conducted the second wave of our survey during May – August 2008. This consisted of two parts. The main survey, which is a repeat cross-sectional survey across our 14 study areas, and with the addition of our new area at Birness Drive. The overall target for this main survey was 5,000 completed interviews and we achieved 3,798 interviews. Three of our study areas were particularly challenging as there were a large number of empty properties due to clearances and demolitions since the Wave 1 survey.
The tracker survey is the first part of our longitudinal study. This consists of a remainers cohort i.e. those people who were interviewed in Wave 1 and known to be still living in the same study area. This study applies to our three transformational regeneration areas (Red Road, Shawbridge and Sighthill) and three local regeneration areas (Gorbals Riverside, Scotstoun MSFs and St Andrews Drive). The overall target for the tracker survey was 1,000 completed interviews and we achieved 856 interviews. Analysis of the main survey and first part of the tracker survey are currently underway.
The distribution of the achieved interviews from the main survey and tracker survey across the areas is given below.
The tracer survey is the second part of our longitudinal study. It consists of an outmovers cohort i.e. those people who have moved out of our study areas since Wave 1. This is being done to obtain a fuller understanding of the differences between people who move away communities and those who stay. The sample and target for this is currently being agreed but will be approximately 500 completed interviews. It will commence in February 2009 and is anticipated to be complete by end-March 2009.
The third part of the longitudinal study is an inmovers cohort i.e. those people who have moved into our study areas since Wave 1. These will have been picked up during the main survey and will be identified when the data are being analysed. This will become larger by Wave 3 of our survey (to be conducted in 2010) as newbuilds are completed and more people move into our study areas. |
