The GoWell programme involves a communications and involvement component, which is designed to establish mechanisms that will ensure the GoWell findings are shared with participants and their communities as well as with policy and practice professionals. In short, the GoWell team wants to ensure that all those with an interest in GoWell are given the opportunity to participate in a meaningful way. To do this the following important communication and involvement tools have been developed:
Community newsletters
The aim of the GoWell community newsletter is to provide participants and their communities with general information about the programme and feedback on what the GoWell team have found out about their area and Glasgow as a whole. There are two editions of the community newsletter each year.
Professional newsletter
GoWell Update is an e-newsletter aimed at keeping policy and practice professionals informed of progress and developments in the programme. It is produced bi-annually and provides more technical detail on the research components of the programme than the community newsletter.
Annual event
The GoWell team hosts an event in February/ March each year. This annual event is designed to feed back progress and findings to the GoWell participants and their communities alongside health, housing and regeneration professionals and stakeholders. It provides an opportunity to discuss findings and to shape the next phase of the programme.
Community seminars
Communication with each of the 14 communities taking part in GoWell is a key priority. Since the GoWell launch in 2006 the GoWell team has arranged and attended information briefing sessions with community based housing organisations, area committees, community planning partners and voluntary organisations in each of our study areas. The team will continue to arrange and attend sessions with the GoWell communities to feed back findings and discuss progress with the programme.
